Mike is in the hospital. He was taken yesterday as he was throwing up blood and had lost a substantial amount. While in the ER, the hospital staff was moving him and broke his arm between the shoulder and elbow. He is currently in CCU at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. I will keep you updated

Update on Mike.
He is on a breathing tube. Still unsure where the blood is going. He is conscious but they are keeping him sedated while the tube is in his throat. They will probably take that out tomorrow.

Thanks Ray
I will keep him in my prayers!

Oh no... Ray, I just don't know what to say, bud.
I know how close you guys were and the pain you must be feeling right now. :'(
Mikey tackled every obstacle life put in his way and soldiered on gallantly, he never ever gave up, never voiced one iota of complaint for his condition, and was always there to help anyone at SCE when asked.
He will be dearly missed.
The world has lost a brave man that was simply an inspiration to all who knew him... if he was born here he would have been tailor-made for the monicker "A little Aussie Battler".
All choked up here thinking about the last thing I said to him in late November: " Have a good Xmas break, mate and I'll catchya at the start of the 2015 season."
Darnit, Mikey... gonna miss ya badly bud.
As Ray said, we smile fondly knowing you're finally forever relieved of those mortal constraints placed upon you in your time with us.
Free to ride with us forever, my friend, forever.

Warren, that is an incredible post and so true of Mike, and who he was. It really made me pause to think. Mike never used his condition for an excuse or complained. He just kept on fighting and moving forward. Instead of making excuses, he just kept working to get better and stronger. I think we all can learn from who Mike Koon was to help us face our own daily battles that there is no comparison as to what Mike and his family endured, but they kept up the fight with a positive attitude. I didn't know Mike nearly as you and Ray knew him, but reading your post, I could not remember him ever complain or use his condition as an excuse. Thanks again for the wonderful post, and it will stick in my mind and heart.

I just got the email and I'm truly in shock. Very sad. I had no idea Mike even had health issues.
Wishing the best for his family and friends.
