HDSR Technical Support / TSW Wheel and Pedals with RFactor
« on: April 01, 2014, 05:41:54 PM »
Do you know of anyone using a TSW wheel in Rfactor?  A friend of mine downloaded the demo of RF2 but his TSW wheel won't work. All the settings he tried did recognize both pedals. It would only recognize one or the other.

Any tips? Thanks

Anyone have any opinions on this card:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Galaxy-NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-640-GC-1GB-128-bit-GDDR3-PCI-Express-3-0-64TGF8HX6FZ-/291072309964#ht_1704wt_974

How does it compare to a 9800GTX+?  It gets good reviews from Newegg and they are out of stock there, but its available on Ebay... NEW for less anyway. I looked at a video card site and the GeForce GT640 getts a wide range of scores.....some way below the 9800GTX and some above. My luck it would be way below and not worth the effort? :-\

I won't spend a dime on any used computer parts - they are usually junk or about to be junk IMO. Won't buy refurbished either....they may have fixed the faulty component but the other working components are probably near their end of life as well. Thanks anyway

Well, replaced the power supply and find out the motherboard is gone also.Get that after searching for an older one compatible with my older components and then it gets delayed by weather. Got it installed with new ram (wouldnt take my DDR2), and find out the GTX9800+ video card also is now fried. I can use the on-board vga to get my taxes doen and regular activities, but I think I may hold off on a new video card for this older computer. Cheapest card that meets the specs of my old one is over $100 and I'd rather save that for the complete rebuild whenever I get to that. Have a nice season guys.. :'(

General Discussion / Re: Important info about driver views
« on: February 17, 2014, 03:08:22 PM »
Hey....I just do this to have fun!

All I'm saying is if someone with a non-standard (to a real driver) view affects my fun in a negative way due to this different view, then I have an issue. Having not used this view for a real race in 20+ years I can't say it does or doesn't give an advantage, so I'll leave it with those who have to decide.

Either way I still just want to have fun... ;)

No offense to anyone...but I vote for CLOSED cockpit  - have been dong so since Hawaii and will always do so. I do this racing to be as close a simlation as possible, not like Xbox or other "games". Sure the view from behind while drafting at the plate tracks is limited - but that is what makes you more aware and on-edge and learn patience. Furthermore, the view would be closed cockpit - not closed mirrors. Aren't there mirror adjustments to allow better viewing if one chooses to do so?

Mike,

It was pretty crazy....there I was between Joel and Phil planning my late race moves and bam...everything shuts down and a black screen...

I have a replacement board on order and had to get new Ram to match it. I'll try to get this old one through the next few months while I scrape together something for a new setup. This is the longest I've gone without rebuilding so I figured it was just a matter of time.

HDSR Technical Support / Need HELP!!!! My mobo is apparently fried
« on: February 08, 2014, 07:00:25 PM »
My 5yr old computer finally blew up last night while running 2nd at Talladega...turns out it cooked the PSU so I spent half the day today driving around and finding a replacement. Got that installed and it looks like the mobo is also fried. Computer  won't post , no beeps, no video, but the drives seem to be spinning and video card fan, cpu fan moving. I tried a bunch of stuff today but it looks like the mobo is bad too.

Problem is I don't have the $ right now for a complete rebuild, so I need to find a mobo compatible with my components. The old mobo is an ASUS P5Q-SE Plus LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX, cpu is Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3 16Ghz LGA 775 ^%W dual core processor, video is BFG Tech GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x 16 HDCP SLI supported, memory is Corsair Dominator 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM 1066 (PC2 8500), etc.

I can't find any of the same series mobo in stock anywhere, only found some refurbished ones on Ebay (not really inclined to do that).

Any thoughts?  Thanks
