I posted this over at SCE in their forums, but thought I would post it here as well
I just reinstalled a fresh copy of sce, and I was looking for the download of the 2 files online that removes the rfactor tach, but leaves the speed/gear/fuel showing in the game. In the process, I found an interesting read that I was not aware of, maybe I just missed it along the way. But lets say you have a wheel with 900 degrees of rotation, if you look in your user data/your name here/ and look for the controller.ini file. Double click on it, or open it in word pad or note pad, and look for the following line under general controls, "Steering Wheel Range="200" // Degrees of rotation of in-game steering wheel" which is set at 200 by default. I changed it to 900 degrees which is what my wheel is, you will have to enter the degrees of rotation that your wheel is, and what I had setup in my Logitech profiler. Last year I tried all different settings within the profiler but didn't help me. I then went into the game and my laps were a lot more consistent within a couple of hundredths a lap plus the time you loose from tire wear. But it gave me a very consistent predictable feel. If you ask Tom and Phil, last season I would piss and moan, and thats stating it nicely lol, as to why my setup feels different on different servers, or is reacting different like snap loose entering when the setup didn't do it before, or get way tight for no reason and it was very frustrating because I would keep making setup changes to compensate for it only to make things worse. I cant say 100% that this was my problem or will help you for sure, but I have done some testing the last couple of days, and it feels a lot better and more predictable. You may have to adjust your speed sensitivity, x axis sensitivity and what wheel lock you use initially to find whats comfortable to you, but I am very pleased so far. The only thing is, there were a few times when I felt the car and wheel acting funny like last season after making changes within the games controller settings. So I rechecked the ini file and the setting went back to 200, not sure if this is from creating different profiles or loading different profiles within the game, but it only happened 3 times. So you might want to check it from time to time.
